President and CEO
Shellie Pfohl is President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Center for SafeSport. The Center is the first and only national organization of its kind focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. As an independent non-profit headquartered in Denver, CO, the Center provides consultation and educational services to sport entities on abuse prevention techniques, policies and programs while carrying out its mission to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of our nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability. The Center also provides a safe, professional and confidential place for individuals to report sexual abuse within the US Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

Previously, Pfohl was appointed by President Barack Obama as Executive Director of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (2010-2016). She was responsible for developing the vision, strategy and goals of the Council and directing the organization’s daily operations. In addition, she led the Council’s efforts to support First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative to solve the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation.

Shellie is a native of Dubuque, Iowa and received her bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology/Fitness Leadership from Northern Illinois University. She earned a certification in Non-Profit Management from Duke University and is a graduate of Leadership North Carolina Class XIII. Most recently, Shellie completed the Women in Sports and Events Executive Leadership Institute at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
